PD Treatment
Effective Treatment of Borderline
& Narcissistic Personality Disorders
Psychodynamic theoretical evolution of Ego Psychology to Object Relations Theory and Self Psychology parallels increased prevalence of preoedipal pathology in the Disorders of the Self.
Theoretical advances offer greater precision in evaluation through differential developmental diagnosis, based upon pinpointing developmental arrest. Technique of intervention is hence refined to access specific defensive structure as well as the underdeveloped self. Understanding of transference and countertransference processes has broadened, further enhancing effectiveness.
This seminar will focus on differential diagnosis, treatment planning and intervention strategies specifically tailored to enhance effectiveness in working with these challenging clients.
This course meets the qualification for 7 hours of continuing education credit for MFTs & LCSWs as required by the California Board of Behavioral Sciences.
